Home Bulldogges Puppies Breedings Contact Us About OEB'S Purchase

The purchase of our bulldog puppies carries responsibilities that should not be taken lightly. Buying any dog, especially a puppy, before someone is absolutely sure he or she is committed can be a serious mistake. The prospective dog owner must have a clear understanding of the amount of time and work involved in dog ownership. Failure to understand the extent of commitment that dog ownership involves is one of the primary reasons why there are so many unwanted canines who are forced to end their lives in an animal shelter.

Temperament and Socialization

A healthy OB puppy is a bouncy, playful extrovert. His/her attitude should be happy and friendly. Personalities and temperaments can range from very active to completely passive. If you select one of the very active puppies, you must be sure that you have the patience that will be needed to train him. This puppy will be very intelligent but demanding. You must be prepared to meet this challenging personality with patience, firmness, love, and consistency. We cannot stress the word "consistency" enough. We feel it is very important our puppies are well socialized with each other and us. We will help with the placing of our puppies to ensure he/she fits with the owner and owners life style. We update info about each pup every week as they develop and also have a couple personality tests that will help the owner decide which pup is right for them.

The sex of a dog

In many breeds is an important consideration. The male OB simply has more of everything, more size, more weight, and more to care for. However, in the end, a male makes a just as loving, devoted, and trainable companion as the female. He can of course, be a bit more head strong, and this will require a bit more patience on the part of the owner. Here again, the owner's dedication to establishing and maintaining discipline will determine the final outcome. Females have their semiannual "heat" cycles once they have reached sexual maturity. Sexually related problems can be eliminated by spaying and neutering.

The adolescent period is particularly important, as it is the time your OB will learn all the household and social rules by which he will live for the rest of his life.

Puppy Health Care

Immunization schedule and current records including dewormings and health check will be given to our pet owner at the time of purchase. The basic well puppy procedure is as follows: A physical examination and fecal check are performed at the vet visit. A standard distemper, parvo, hepatitis, etc. combination vaccine (6 in 1) is administered by me at age 6 weeks and every 3 weeks after a (7 in 1) is administered. After these, (7 in 1) shots are recommend annually. Rabies vaccination is given at twelve or sixteen weeks of age. Additional vaccines such as Lyme, bordetella (kennel cough), etc. are given based on the possible exposure of these diseases to your dog. Puppies are wormed at 2 weeks old and every 2 weeks after until 3 months of age. Once a month from age 3 to 6 months. After 6 months of age use a heartworm preventative medication that is effective against hookworms and roundworms. Physical examination, fecal exam, heartworm test, and dental exam are recommended yearly. All instructions will be given to you when your puppy is released.
